Irregular distribution of dairy products irks consumers

RANCHUELO, Cuba, September 19 (Félix Reyes Gutiérrez, Cubanacán Press /
www.cubanet.org) - Irregularities in the distribution of dairy products
these past two weeks irked consumers in Ranchuelo, Villa Clara province.

An employee of the local commercial enterprise who gave her name as
Elisa said breakdowns in the Santa Clara plant led to the vagaries in
the distribution of yogurt that is usually sold on Tuesdays, Thursdays
and Saturdays. Notwithstanding, about 600 units of the yogurt normally
supplied to children at one peso per in grocery stores, showed up at
three pesos in the Los Pinos cafeteria.

Irked parents said: "Government officials don't care about the children.
They don't have sugar water for breakfast."

The chronically low yields of the dairy herd have obligated the
government to ration milk and milk products for the last 10 years.
